The Inn at Bowman's Hill Blog

Delaware Canal

Encompassing more than 300,000 acres, Pennsylvania's 124 state parks offer residents and visitors a myriad of outdoor recreation activities — from hiking, biking and boating to environmental and historical programs. Two of these state parks are listed as National Historic Landmarks, one being Delaware Canal State Park here in Bucks County.

Pride Parade

New Hope, Pennsylvania, is ranked by Vacationer Magazine, Time Out and numerous other publications as one of the most LGBTQ+ friendly towns in America. Every year, New Hope celebrates its inclusive spirit by joining with Lambertville, our New Jersey neighbor, for PrideFest.

Wildflowers

The Inn at Bowman's Hill is proud to have as our neighbor one of the most spectacular nature preserves in the country — Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve. From gorgeous trails and cascading streams to stunning meadows overflowing with wildflowers, the preserve offers visitors not only diverse landscapes to admire, but also educational, interpretive and conservation programs to foster a new appreciation for nature.

Brewery

Would you be surprised to learn that Pennsylvania is ranked the No. 2 beer-producing state in the U.S.? It's true! Our breweries produce 3.6 million barrels of beer per year, second only to California. While most of that is non-craft brands, the popularity of craft beer is booming. Pennsylvania is home to more than 400 craft breweries, and two dozen of those are right here in Bucks County.

New Hope Railroad

From the clackety-clack of the wheels on the tracks to the steam rising from the engine, a ride on the historic New Hope Railroad will transport you back in time. Climb aboard and enjoy panoramic views of meandering streams, abundant farmland, landmark buildings, bridges and more as you traverse along tracks that wind through the scenic Bucks County countryside.

Fonthill Castle

You don't have to be royalty or even travel to Europe to visit a grand, historic castle. Fun fact: Pennsylvania is home to more than a dozen castles, and two of them are in Doylestown, about 25 minutes east of the Inn at Bowman's Hill. Fonthill Castle and the Mercer Museum were both built by renowned American archeologist and collector Henry Chapman Mercer.

Ferry Market

Do you consider yourself a foodie – someone who lives to eat, has an avid interest in the latest food trends and likes to try new cuisines? If this describes you, then you'll want to check out Ferry Market during your next stay with us at the Inn at Bowman's Hill in New Hope, Pennsylvania. It's the perfect place to get a taste of locally sourced ingredients and flavors from around the world.

With its picturesque setting, expertly crafted wines and lively atmosphere, New Hope Winery draws in guests from far and wide. Wine Tasting

Nestled in the idyllic countryside of the Delaware Valley, Bucks County wineries are already gorgeous on their own, but they're even more special when paired with stunning creations from local artists. It all comes together for the Bucks County Wine + Art Trail.

Michener Art Museum

It's hard to imagine that a museum that celebrates the beauty and creativity of the art world was once a place of fear and despair. The James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, which opened in 1988, began more than 100 years earlier in 1884 as the Bucks County Prison.
