The Inn at Bowman's Hill Blog

Washington's Crossing Reenactment

Take a journey back in time to Christmas Day 1776, when General George Washington led his soldiers across the frigid, icy waters of the Delaware River for a surprise attack on Hessian troops. The daring river crossing, and subsequent victory at Trenton, was a turning point in the American Revolution that happened less than 5 miles from where the Inn at Bowman's Hill is today.

Bucks County Playhouse

On the site of a former grist mill on the banks of the Delaware River, the Bucks County Playhouse has played a starring role in the history of this small Pennsylvania town with a big city feel. Opened in 1939, the playhouse grew to become one of the premier summer theatres in the nation. Over the years, numerous Broadway and Hollywood stars have graced its stage including Tyne Daly, Grace Kelly, Angela Lansbury, Robert Redford, Andrea McArdle and James Earl Jones – to name a few.

Light the Vines

Whether you prefer holiday decor to include oversized flickering bulbs in vibrant colors or the simple glow of all-white strings of lights, there's no denying that millions of twinkling lights help make the holiday season magical and bright. When you visit Bucks County in December, you'll find dazzling displays of lights adorning trees, outlining homes and businesses, draped across downtown streets, and woven through dormant grapevines. Yes, grapevines!
